Mosaic copies are made face up, allowing a slow and accurate working method in which the student can see and correct any errors while s/he works.
The student experiences all the many stages of mosaic creation, from the cutting of tessarae to the final creation of copies of Roman, Byzantine or Medieval mosaics. The student will use material according to the copy s/he is making.
These materials are; limestone and marble, or “smalti” and gold. (Smalti is obtained by the fusion and the subsequent cooling of a mixture of silica, alkali and metal oxides and colouring agents.)
This course has a total duration of 40 hours, from Monday to Friday. The cost is €660 (See comparative table).
The price includes all materials, use of tools, the mosaics you have created, all taxes,
insurance, and a certificate attesting to successful completion of the course.
